WORDS
Today I want to inspire you, encourage you, bring a little insight and challenge you to pursue words.
Spoken, heard or read, words wield immense power. They can bring life or destroy it and so much more in-between. In short, words are one of the most powerful entities in the universe. God created the universe and everything in it, and on it, with the words “let there be….” and there was. That simple.
In 70 AD, a Middle Eastern writer put it like this - the word of God is alive and powerful. That power can cut between the soul and the spirit, between a joint and the bone marrow. It exposes innermost thoughts and desires.
With the power they hold, words come with responsibilities and duties. They require wisdom and an understanding of how to use them because their intentions will influence those who hear them. Today, more than ever before, the words we write and speak, the words we read and listen to require wisdom and great consideration with how we take them in and how we use them. How they are spoken and heard are of immeasurable importance. They were never meant to be weaponised or be used to manipulate listeners for personal outcomes. They were created for good, not to be taken for granted, used as tools or impersonal objects.
Words are magnificent gifts, precious treasures that bring hope and beauty, love and encouragement, truth and wisdom. They reveal the motivations of hearts and the truths of character. They give us the power to praise, bring joy, inform, talk, describe, enjoy and express love. They have the power to replace ugly with beauty, condemnation with compassion, they bring life. Words can encourage to seek after truth and wisdom, explore opinions with discernment, and the great adventures of exploring insights, cultures, languages, customs and cuisines.
Can I encourage you to hear when you listen, keep what is good, uplifting, challenging and insightful. And throw the rest out. Can I encourage you to think about what you say and how you say it. Think about what doesn’t really need to be said or listened to. And most of all discover the extraordinary gift that words are.
Remember this
“You are a Word of God, spoken only once” and that word is magnificent.
