Freedom Boundaries 3- Visibility
The boundaries that God gave the Israelites in their new found freedom were tangible. In the old Testament times they did not have the Holy Spirit, like we do today, that leads from within in close communion. So they needed tangible and visible boundaries so they could follow Him.
God showed himself in a cloud by day and fire by night. Also in the sounds of the silver horns.Perhaps more importantly than the signs themselves were the action they took. One of the tangible presence of God.
The Cloud and The Fire
— stood between the Israelites and their enemies Exodus 14:19-20 NLT
— Indicated when to move and when to stay put Numbers 9:15-23 NLT
— Covered the tabernacle letting the people know important things were happening and to expect a move Exodus 40:34-38 NLT
The Two Hammered Silver Horns
—- messages of who was to come and hear the direction to be given. When to assemble and when to break camp, two horns for everybody, one for just the leaders Numbers 10-1-10 NLT
They were communications from God. It was showing the Israelites how to ‘follow’ after years of being told what to do. They now needed to learn the freedom and choice that’s in ‘follow’.
Is God talking to you in new tangible boundaries ? Can you see the new rhythms of ‘follow’ ?
