Freedom needs boundaries

Back when the Israelites had made it out of Egypt (freedom) and out of 400 years of slavery (double freedom) They still needed boundaries to move down the path God had for them.

That many people without clear directions would be like herding cats. So God being God and yes knowing everything, gave them 3 clear signs, old testament bumper guards if you will , FIRE, Cloud & Sound.

The fire by night and the cloud by day are ones most of us would be familiar with Numbers 9:15-23  NLT but what about sound? That sound came from two hammered silver horns Numbers 10:1-10 NLT. The sound of the horns, in different combinations, indicated who was to go to God for instructions and when.

These were boundaries, ones of movement and direction, heading somewhere not spreading out like you would in a land or area where you are settling down. They had not yet reached the promised land but were on their way and that freedom journey needed boundaries.

These boundaries that God had gifted them gave them a path to follow, protection, provision and a promise of a future land.
