Where to seek
Seeking God in Creation and His Word
The Madaba mosaic map above, is the oldest known map, showing Lebanon in the north to the Nile Delta in the south, and from the Mediterranean Sea in the west to the Eastern Desert. It’s not obvious where it is or how to get anywhere, but sometimes you just have to stand back and say “can someone tell me what I’m looking at!” Asking the Holy Spirit for Kingdom perspectives, new ways to see, for wisdom, for new ways of thinking and understanding, for seeking to change you, for deeper, for joy is a good place to start.
Go outside and look around you and look up. At night the stars and the Milky Way, at dawn the colours of sunrise at dusk the colours of sunset. During the day check out the clouds and the light on them, go for a walk and explore what’s around you. The God of Creation is everywhere colours, rock formations, animals, bird, rivers and oceans. Creation is the inspiration for seeking.
Pick up a bible and read it aloud. It was first written to be read to communities and people in the Jewish temples. The New Testament are all letters and descriptions meant to be read to communities of people. Often it can have an impact that just reading doesn’t have. Read it quietly and go further, look at the notes, the extra references it has.for each verse and passage.
Think, about what you’ve discovered, ask the Holy Spirit to make it real, relevant to you. Take notes from sermons, follow through with your thoughts and pursue them further. Keep a journal or notebook for all of this. Go back to it every couple of months and see what impact its had on you, who you are and how you live and your relationships.
Listen and sing. Find music and songs that have an impact on you, what is it about them that cause you to feel that way. See if any of the lyrics are from the bible. Sing them all your heart and with all your mind. Cathedral Worship Playlist
