No silver, no gold
Isaiah 43:10 NLT “…you are my servant. You have been chosen to know me, believe in me, and understand that I alone am God”.
1 Corinthians 2:13-16 MSG “..spiritually alive, we have access to everything God’s Spirit is doing, and can’t be judged by unspiritual critics. Isaiah’s question “Is there anyone around who knows Gods’s Spirit, who knows what he is doing? Christ knows and we have Christ’s Spirit”.
You know that God’s got a plan, he is good, he can be trusted, but you feel like you’re in a tunnel and pretty sure that the light you see isn’t the exit, it’s a train barreling towards you. You’ve prayed long and hard, big prayers maybe even radical prayers. Youre sure you know what God has for you, tested it with scripture, had faith but right now have no idea what’s happening.
It’s OK. This is the point where the rubber hits the road. Pithy phrases stop, shallow intentions and expectations get exposed and God takes you seriously, God shaped seriously. You see, he cares about you deeply in every way and he’s aware you have a finite capacity. To truly be able to live as a spiritual being, a Kingdom liver in this world, you need to be equipped with Kingdom capacity, resilience and wisdom. This comes with a new, deeper relationship with him. A mature one that puts him above everything, and everyone else - no exceptions. Why? Because you’ve asked to live in the place of impossible being possible, miracles being regular occurrences and prayer being authoritative and powerful with results.
You need to be surrendered, trusted not to take over when things get tough and be ready to walk into the fire knowing you won’t burn. If you aren’t you’ll break, be ineffective and not have the abundant life in God that you were created for and crave. To get to this place of “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I do have. In the name of Jesus the Nazarene , get up and walk,” Acts 3:6 NLT, it really is a day at a time, sometimes an hour, even a step at a time. Remember though, “Give your entire attention what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things that come up when the time comes.” Matthew 6:34 MSG.
You will discover your relation ship with him changes. You’ll experience him differently, more maturely. He will show himself in his creation, show you things you haven’t seen before, things will change possibly incrementally, irregularly or in batches. There may be more silence, he speaks in that. He will open your heart, your eyes and ears to his deep secrets with intimacy and unfolding revelation. He will surprise and startle, change your perspective and beliefs and you will learn how to enjoy a relationship with him that stays.
Here’s his promises. He is your 4th man in the fire, your burning bush, your parting waters and your Jericho shout. He’s your cloud by day and your pillar of fire by night, your budding rod, your footsteps to follow and your tent of meeting. He is your empty grave, your descending fire, your heavenly language, your ever present, your all sufficient, everlasting, wing to cover and shoulder to lean on, your tree of life. He is your creator, he watches over you constantly and he will never leave you. He is your beloved and he is your God.
