Possibilities & Resources

"Don’t measure your possibilities by your current resources”  a piece of advice I was given by a sincere person some years ago. Advice I took on until it occurred to me it sounded good but actually wasn’t.  Not everything that sounds good actually is. I replaced possibilities and resources with plans and purpose. I also decided not to measure myself against anything, because God doesn’t.

Circumstances and scenarios have possibilities which essentially are a collection of alternatives that are, or that might occur. As my Father used to say, “there is always more than one way for anything to happen or be done”. However, we are created beings and we are all created on purpose for a purpose.  Because of this truth, we don’t need a range of possibilities or to struggle with not having the personal or physical resources to pursue those possibilities.

Psalm 139:13-18 MSG tells us we were sculpted from nothing into something and all the days of our lives were prepared before we lived one of them

Jeremiah 29:11 NLT says “…I know the plans I have for you” says the Lord “they are plans for for good and not for disaster, plans to give you a future and a hope..”

God has a plan for each of us and its a good plan. It doesn’t require us to work out all the possibilities, get resourced for it, keep revising it just in case its not right or not good enough, and then striving to make it work.

The God that created the universe created you and your plan. He knew every situation, choice, circumstance and problem that would arise and your plan has accommodated them all. Think about that for a moment.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 tells us how this works:

I have a plan - fact

For a hope and a future - certainty

Call on me, pray, seek - instructions

Wholeheartedly - attitude

I will be found - his promise

You’ve got this, talk to him  and explore his purpose and his plan
