Seeing

I have always been fascinated by what I see. As far back as I can remember I have always looked around, no matter where I am and said to myself “what can I see here, what is there to discover”. I can honestly say I’ve never been disappointed with what I’ve discovered. Learning to calm my mind, and scan for new adventures actually brings me a unique joy, especially in my paintings. We’ll share some thoughts there later.

Now, to your responses. Most responses were reports of factual observations. Examples being - same thing upside down, rust stains on stones, weathered stones, something made a pattern on them.

The photos are of a piece of slate in my back garden, taken from opposite ends. When I first really looked at the bottom photo I saw a small mountain village, a line of trees in front of a river and a zig zag path up the mountain. I’ve only just recently really looked at the top photo view. At first I saw a house at the base of a mountain and a river in the foreground. Then I really looked. What I saw was a cave with a dim light behind and two figures looking at something. Take time, let your eyes wander over the image, stand back, look closely, relax. What gets revealed for you beyond obvious?

‘….But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear”. Matthew 13:16 NLT Taking the time to really see what you’re looking at and asking the Spirit of God to open your eyes to his truth, will reveal things that will inspire, encourage and delight your soul.
