Then there wasn’t

“let there be, and there was”

The world could explain the image you are looking at like this. There was a period during which an event happened, that period was a point in time and space at which something began. The creator and ruler of the universe brought something into being. That something was the heavens and the earth.

Or to put it another way: Genesis 1:1 NLT

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

The world often explains things in a complicated, ambiguous way that sounds complicated. However, the truth is potently simple.

There was nothing, then there wasn’t. Just like that everything in the heaven and the earth was created, in a very specific order by our God, our Creator. There was a plan and that plan put into place everything that we would need to live in Gods creation, and live well. You could call it the ‘Let there be, and there was’ plan, and it was good.

Genesis 1: 3-27 NLT goes like this:

God said let there be and his words became truth.

First light & darkness, then sky and waters, then land, sea and vegetation, these were followed by sun, moon and stars, then birds and fish and finally animals. If you look closely you’ll find that each thing that was created facilitated and supported the next group of things. Once in place they all provided humans a place to exist and exist well. Then God created humans.

The first thing we read in the word of God is the template for everything God has for us and his world. From the beginning of time to now and beyond into eternity. To make it personal, he has a specific plan for you, a purpose that is uniquely and exclusively yours.

In Jeremiah 29:11 NLT we read “I know the plans I have a for you”, says the Lord. “They are plans for good, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope”.

Ephesians 2:10 NLT says ”For we are Gods masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago”.

Look around at the world you live in. God created all of this so he could create you, his masterpiece, and give you a purpose with the same amount of care and creativity he gave his original a act of creation.

Unique, one of a kind, never to be repeated. You are the word of God, spoken only once, and it is a good word.
